Project Evolution & Release Notes
Changelog
A transparent record of all releases, architectural improvements, privacy upgrades, and laboratory tests on Image Size Reducer.
Trust, Transparency & Editorial Standards Overhaul (Phase 4)
Released: October 31, 2026 • Version v1.4.0
- Expanded About page with factual publisher background for James K. Chapman under Kivelo IT.
- Documented honest technical limitations: lossy quality trade-offs at small KB budgets, 25MB input ceiling, device RAM/CPU constraints, and static handling of animated GIFs.
- Published formal Editorial & Research Policy detailing empirical laboratory benchmark standards and regular guide re-verification.
- Upgraded Contact experience with instant mailto fallback, confirmed support response window (within 24–48 business hours), and physical office information in Thalawathugoda, Sri Lanka.
- Published public Changelog (/changelog) tracking all milestone releases and engineering updates.
- Added visible 'Last updated' dates across all technical guides and legal policies.
Google Consent Mode v2 & Legal Compliance (Phase 3)
Released: October 31, 2026 • Version v1.3.0
- Implemented full Google Consent Mode v2 with default denied signals for ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, and analytics_storage.
- Built interactive three-action cookie consent banner (Accept All, Reject Optional, Manage Preferences) with granular toggles for Essential, Analytics, and Advertising categories.
- Connected footer 'Cookie Settings' button to reopen consent preferences on demand.
- Client-gated Google Analytics (G-MN18BNSGH0) and Google AdSense (ca-pub-4339749018449035) so scripts never execute without affirmative user consent.
- Published verified /ads.txt file and Route Handler with official publisher credentials (google.com, pub-4339749018449035, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0).
- Rewrote Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Terms of Service with exact disclosures of 100% client-side execution, user copyright ownership, and Google partner policies.
Metadata, Structured Data & Technical Truth (Phase 2)
Released: October 31, 2026 • Version v1.2.0
- Standardized all 26 page titles under 60 characters and meta descriptions between 140–160 characters without brand repetition.
- Injected complete JSON-LD structured data hierarchy: WebSite and Organization sitewide, WebApplication on tool pages, Article on guides, and BreadcrumbList on inner pages.
- Debunked and completely eliminated all false claims of WebAssembly compiled binaries, aligning copy with actual HTML5 Canvas 2D and client-side UPNG.js code.
- Resolved homepage SSR bailout (ImageProcessorApp), ensuring crawlers receive the complete interactive tool shell in initial server HTML.
- Created dedicated landing pages for high-intent search queries: /compress-image-to-100kb, /compress-image-to-50kb, /compress-image-to-20kb, and unified /convert-image.
- Generated dynamic XML sitemap (sitemap.xml) and robots.txt referencing it.
Empirical Benchmarking Suite & Cross-Browser Validation
Released: October 22, 2026 • Version v1.1.0
- Developed automated laboratory benchmark scripts (scripts/run-benchmarks.mjs) testing standardized photographic and graphic fixtures across compression steps.
- Created empirical quality tables for JPEG, PNG, and WebP documenting actual measured byte savings.
- Configured automated cross-browser testing harness with Playwright verifying Canvas 2D rendering across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.
- Implemented persistent contact inquiry storage (data/messages.json) and administrative inquiry endpoints.
Technical Educational Guides Library Launch
Released: October 8, 2026 • Version v1.0.5
- Authored 10 comprehensive technical tutorials and format comparison guides.
- Published in-depth analysis on Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) quantization, YCbCr color spaces, and chroma subsampling.
- Documented Core Web Vitals optimization techniques, Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) reduction, and modern WebP container benefits.
Initial Launch & Core Client-Side Engine
Released: September 26–28, 2026 • Version v1.0.0
- Initial production release of Image Size Reducer built with Next.js 14 App Router and TypeScript.
- Architected 100% in-browser image compression engine using HTML5 Canvas 2D (toBlob) and UPNG.js quantization.
- Developed iterative binary search algorithm to automatically target user-specified kilobyte budgets.
- Integrated client-side multi-image ZIP bundling using JSZip without server uploads.
- Configured Firebase Hosting for fast, global edge delivery.
